Michigan
needs strong institutions of higher education for the health of its civil
society, governments, and businesses. MCF’s fourteen member institutions
contribute to that health with well educated, values-oriented, and
community-minded graduates.
MCF-member schools strive to be diverse, affordable, and successful:
- Of their 34,400
students, over 4,600 identify themselves as minorities.
- Another 1,265 students
come from abroad.
- 89% of their
undergraduates receive gift aid, averaging $8,900, a figure that
highlights both the students’ need for assistance, and the institutions’
commitment to provide it.
- Class sizes averaging
19 students and their hallmark emphasis on high-quality teaching enable
them to provide truly hand-crafted education, treating each student as a
unique individual.
- Their high retention
rates mean students are more likely to complete a degree and enter the
workforce, nearly half within four years.
The liberal arts colleges and universities supported by MCF play a
critical role in providing college education and character development to the
young people who will become leaders in the public, private, and
not-for-profit sectors.
