Michigan Colleges Foundation(MCF) is the catalyst for leveraged programming and curricular development among its member institutions in areas directly related to Michigan’s economic transformation. MCF connects its collective assets (centers, institutes, research projects, majors, and the like) to focal areas of Michigan’s future, including entrepreneurship, healthcare, environmental sustainability, renewable energy, the creative economy, fresh water technology, urban development, and K-12 education.
Connecting MCF students in personal and meaningful ways to Michigan’s future, before they graduate and plan their lives elsewhere, is essential to our state’s overall need for talent development and retention. The Partnership for Michigan Initiative creates an innovative and eclectic platform on which to engage students in the state’s progress, igniting their interests and passions and linking them in compelling career settings to people, programs, and resources throughout the MCF network.

Founded in 1949, the MCF is a collection of 14 colleges and universities in the liberal arts tradition that span Michigan’s Lower Peninsula. Collectively, these institutions comprise the “third largest university” in the state (with some 35,000 students, 1,700 faculty, 75 academic majors, and 150,000 Michigan based alumni). Approximately 70 percent of MCF students are Michigan residents, and the majority remains in the state after graduation. MCF institutions share a common heritage and commitment – to provide high quality, values-based education in a small, nurturing environment that encourages creativity, critical thinking, global intelligence, and civic engagement.
MCF’s fourteen member institutions contribute to the state’s health with well educated, values-based, and community-minded graduates.
The Michigan Colleges Foundation serves as a vital link between the philanthropic needs of its corporate and collegiate customers. In recent years, MCF has created a number of innovative programs to address social issues and areas of mutual interest to both the business and college communities.
